Created in the mid '90's, Sylcore Media began as Sylcore Graphics. At the time the focus was on computer graphics, web design, 3D modelling, animation and video editing. It was created with the idea of "New Media", a trend which described the emerging technologies that were being driven by the internet. Everything seemed to be moving to the new "on line" world.
Looking back, the on-line world moved forward quickly. We take so much for granted today. Back then just getting videos to play properly on line was much more of a technical challenge. There was no YouTube, or Sound Cloud, there was no FaceBook, and only computer graphic artists knew what Photoshop was. Today, the term Photoshop has become a household word. We take our high speed internet connections for granted too, a far cry from the 56k modems we used to think were fast. The speed of our connections is what makes everything possible today. Can you imagine a world without instant Google access, a day without a YouTube cat video, or being able to tweet your thoughts to a zillion people in real time.
There was always a music component to Sylcore. By late 2004 music began to be a higher focus than the visual/graphics side. Thus the change to Sylcore Media as it reflected the change in direction much better. Today Sylcore Media is primarily about music, but I still like to work on and share photography and 3D art.
Reason for this site?
The main reason for this site is to share my creations with the world and connect with similarly minded individuals who would like to collaborate to create new music.
"I am always looking for musicians, song writers, singers to work with."
I love to create new music. Head over to the Music Gallery, have a listen. If you like what you hear, let me know. If you're a singer looking to record one of your songs, contact me.
I also love to take pictures. To me 90% of it is being there, seeing the shot and capturing that moment. Head over to the Picture Gallery where I've included some of my favourite photos to share. If you see something you like, contact me. I usually try to visualize the shot in a way that would look good framed and on the wall, so many of my photos are like that.
If photography is about capturing the moment, then 3D art is about creating that moment. Head over to the 3D Image Gallery. I am just getting back into this. What I am trying to to is create that moment as well as taking the picture of it.
Technology and Creativity have finally come together for me now. I spend more time creating and less time waiting for the technology to catch up. The tools are better, the internet is better, the experience is better. Having been on line since before the internet, it has finally become what I always imagined it could be.
I am back on line after being away for a while, this is where I hang out and post my stuff.
